As with the first International Forum on Rectal cancer Management I was fortunate enough to be part of the faculty of world leaders in the field of rectal cancer management. This is the second meeting on rectal cancer management in Sao Paolo and was inspired by Professor Angelita Habr-Gama.

Tan Arulampalam is an invited speaker at this meeting along with his colleagues Dr. Catherine Brosnan and Mrs Jane Hendricks. The Postgraduate Medical Institute (PMI), an ambitious project launched by the dynamic Anglia Ruskin University has led the way in postgraduate education in the region.

It is a great pleasure to announce the imminent arrival of new research fellows to Colchester. Tan Arulampalam established a laparoscopic overseas fellowship in Colchester for Sri Lankan surgeons in 2007.
May 2010
Unfortunately, Tan Arulampalam has suffered a fracture dislocation of his right shoulder. This occurred on Wednesday, 21st April and although successfully treated at Colchester Hospital, further intervention was required.
June 2010
Mr. Arulampalam will be launching an online patient satisfaction survey which will be helpful in improving the level of service that all patients receive. The survey will be a simple online form and a hard copy form will be used also.
September 2010
During the months of August and September various building works will commence at the Ramsay Oaks Hospital where Mr. Arulampalam consults and carries out surgery.
October 2010
The use of robotic technology in surgery is rapidly expanding. The main stumbling block has been cost but it is clear that there are clear clinical advantages in the use of robotic technology in clinical practice.
February 2011
Mr Arulampalam has been working with colleagues both from Colchester Hospital and Anglia Ruskin University on the new ICENI Centre, which will be launched in early March 2011.
March 2011
Mr Arulampalam, who has been working on the ICENI Centre project for 4 years with his colleagues saw the centre officially opened by the Secretary of State for Health, Rt Hon Mr. Andrew Lansley.
April 2011
Mr Arulampalam, has been clinical lead for the Anglia Ruskin University masters programme in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. The programme is in the recruitment phase and Mr. Arulampalam will be in Cochin, Delhi, Chandrigarh amongst other venues to promote this exiting and innovative course.
