Robotic Surgery
The use of robotic technology in surgery is rapidly expanding. The main stumbling block has been cost but it is clear that there are clear clinical advantages in the use of robotic technology in clinical practice. This situation is likely to evolve further as the use of motorized endoscopes and flexible robotic end effectors are developed. Mr. Arulampalam has set up the Robotic User Group at Colchester Hospital and plans to develop this area of practice.
STEPS Course
Mr Arulampalam along with his colleagues Professor Roger Motson and Mr. Nick Reay Jones have developed the STEPS Laparoscopic Colorectal Training programme for surgical trainees. This course has gone from strength to strength and this month saw the completion of the 4th such Course.
